Move-In and Move-Out FAQs

Whether you’re moving into a new home or transitioning out of one , we’re here to make the process smooth and stress-free. Below are answers to common questions about moving in and moving out.

What fees are required for move-in?

For move-in, we typically require a security deposit and the first month’s rent. These payments must be made in cash or via M-Pesa to the provided bank details, prior to receiving the keys and completing your move-in.

Do you accept pets?

Yes! We are a pet-friendly company. However, different buildings may have varying rules. Pets are assessed on a case-by-case basis. If you’re considering getting a pet or already have one, please check with us first to avoid any future misunderstandings.

What’s the procedure for renting an apartment with a roommate?

A separate tenancy agreement and information sheet is required for each person moving into the unit. Full rent and the security deposit must be paid in full by all tenants.

If I move in mid-month, when is my rent due?

If you move in on any day other than the 1st of the month, you will pay pro-rated rent for the second month of tenancy. This ensures your rent due date aligns with the 1st of each month, and this will be outlined in your lease agreement and explained at the time of signing.

What is a pro-rated rent?

Pro-rated rent is the amount of rent a tenant pays when they move in or out of a rental property partway through a month. Instead of paying the full rent for the entire month, the rent is calculated based on the number of days they will actually occupy the unit.

What is the procedure for moving out of my unit?

If you’re planning to move out, please provide us with a proper 30-Day Notice of your intent to vacate. You can send this notice via mail or email, followed by a call to our office to confirm receipt.

On your move out date you’ll be required to conduct an inspection with the assigned agent to ascertain the condition of your unit for the necessary renovations and deposit refunds.

What if only one roommate is moving out?

If a roommate moves out, they must inform us so we can remove their name from the lease. Any new roommate must go through the same approval process. Security deposit refunds for the departing roommate will be handled between the remaining tenant and the new roommate, not through Lam Line Property Managers.
